For the past six weeks, Edgefield County Hospital has enjoyed having bright young faces helping out around the hospital, thanks to this year’s Junior Volunteer Program.
The junior volunteers- two local high school girls, and one local high school boy, got great experience working in a hospital environment. Participants included Margaret Turner, Jessica Allen, and Cody Christie.
Some of the different tasks that the candy stripers performed included helping at the Nurses Station by answering call lights, taking phone calls, delivering mail to the patients, and helping out with the patients parties and activities. The patients were always delighted to see these young cheerful faces. One of the Junior Volunteers even updated the hospital scrapbook.
To end a successful summer program, Junior Volunteers were treated to a lunch at The Olive Garden for all of their dedicated services. “The hospital always enjoys having the candy stripers each summer. It is nice to have young volunteers supporting their local hospital.” said Leslie Seigler, Junior Volunteer Director.
